Indonesia's Chris John retained his WBA featherweight title with a unanimous decision over Jose Rojas of Venezuela at Jakarta's Indoor Tennis Stadium. John, 27, sent Rojas to the canvas in the second and fourth rounds with right hooks as he eyed an early finish.
But John was made to work until the final bell by his game opponent.
It was the second title bout between the two and the seventh title defence for John, who improved his record to 39 wins from 40 fights.
Their first match, in December 2004, ended in a technical draw after a clash of heads.
