World super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has been named as the British Boxer of the Year. The Welshman was handed the top honour at the British Boxing Board of Control awards ceremony in London on Thursday.
Calzaghe, 34, was favourite to pick up the prize after he united the WBO and IBF belts by defeating previously unbeaten American Jeff Lacy in March.
Kevin Anderson's thrilling 10th-round stoppage victory over Young Muttley was awarded the Contest of the Year.
Wales' world cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli shared the sportstmanship award with British rival Mark Hobson for their first fight this year.
Maccarinelli won a thriller on points in March, but then in an October rematch knocked Hobson out in the first round.
