Johnson to dispute Woods victory
Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson spar in Bolton

Glen Johnson's camp plan to protest against the decision to award Clinton Woods victory in their light heavyweight clash last weekend.

His promoters, Warriors Boxing, claim one of Woods' team broke International Boxing Federation (IBF) rules by trying to climb into the ring during the bout.

Head of Warriors Boxing Leon Margules said: "We intend on filing a protest.

"Glen Johnson should be crowned the victor or they should order an immediate rematch."

IBF regulations state: "If any cornerperson stands on the apron or enters the ring during a round, the referee shall disqualify the boxer."

They have not been gracious in defeat and they are just bad losers

Woods' promoter Dennis Hobson admitted he made a brief dash to get to his fighter's corner during a difficult ninth round.

He insists he retreated to his seat after being ordered to do so by the referee and believes the threat from Johnson's team is nothing more than hot air.

"It is a cheap shot by people who cannot come to terms with the fact their man lost fair and square," said Hobson.

"They have not been gracious in defeat and they are just bad losers."

Hobson is so unconcerned about the threats that he is heading to America on Sunday to try and seal the next title defence for Woods, who has now defended his IBF title three times.

Former champions Roy Jones and Antonio Tarver are top of his list.

Woods retained his title in Bolton after a split decision following 12 gruelling rounds with Johnson.
