Hunter claimed the European title last October |
Briton Michael Hunter made short work of German Guartos to retain his European super bantamweight title. The 27-year-old from Hartlepool produced a dazzling display of power at the Borough Hall to win convincingly.
Spaniard Guartos was floored twice inside three rounds before retiring on his stool and failing to come out for the fourth round.
It is Hunter's second successful defence since claiming the European title last October.
"That was top of the pops, it couldn't have gone any better," said Hunter after the bout.
"I am hitting quite hard now, in fact I am hitting very hard.
"It used to be later on in the fight that I got that power but now it is
coming a lot earlier and the two shots I dropped him with were great shots.
"My fitness is spot on and I could go the full 12 rounds at that pace if I
wanted.
"We are just going from strength to strength and I just hope we can continue
to go on from here."
