Williams pulled out of the fight with Skelton last July because of flu |
Danny Williams is set to fight for Matt Skelton's British heavyweight crown as well as his own Commonwealth title when the pair meet on 25 February. The Brixton fighter was banned for six months from challenging for the British crown after he pulled out of a bout with Skelton last July.
Williams appealed and, although the British Boxing Board of Control upheld the decision, the ban was terminated.
Promoter Frank Warren will now apply to have the British title put on the line.
The BBBC will meet this Wednesday to make a decision.
Williams, who defends his Commonwealth Crown against Skelton at the London ExCel Arena, cited illness when he pulled out of the July bout.
As well as the ban he was fined 2,000, but in December Williams returned to beat Audley Harrison by split decision.
