Rampant Khan 'ready to step up'
Amir Khan
Khan was expected to be stretched by Vitali Martynov
Amir Khan's trainer claims the 19-year-old is ready for a title shot after only five professional fights.

Khan stopped Belarussian Vitali Martynov in 75 seconds on Saturday.

And trainer Oliver Harrison said: "Amir is as good as it gets right now and I would happily put him in against any opponent and believe he would win.

"I have worked with boxers for a long time and I have never seen anything like it. He listens to everything I say and then just goes out and does it."

Khan is unlikely to have a title contest this year due to British Boxing Board of Control rules designed to protect young fighters. But he was more impressive than ever in Nottingham.

Martynov came to the ring with a solid record of 10 wins from his previous 11 contests and was expected to at least stretch the Olympic silver medallist over a couple of rounds.

But Khan got through with a straight left in the opening seconds and it soon evident another quick victory was on the cards.

Khan will next appear on the undercard of Danny Williams' heavyweight title clash with Matt Skelton at London's ExCel Arena on 25 February.

And the problem now facing the Bolton fighter is finding opponents who are able to extend him through the rounds.

Khan said: "I could fight again next week the way I feel at the moment and as I'm young I can recover a lot quicker than older people anyway.

"I'll take half a week off and then I'll be back in the gym. I trained the hardest ever for this fight, the lad was bigger than me but I was ready for him."
