Danny Williams and Matt Skelton could still fight for the Commonwealth heavyweight title as well as the British belt when they meet in July. Skelton surrendered the Commonwealth belt when he won the WBU title, but has since given up the latter belt.
"We will be applying to the relevant governing bodies," fight promoter Frank Warren told his website on Friday.
Williams will have an eight-rounder on the undercard of Ricky Hatton's fight with Kostya Tszyu in June as a tune-up.
The 31-year-old, who beat Mike Tyson last July, has not been in the ring since his comprehensive loss to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in December.
But he should have no problems against 34-year-old German southpaw Ralf Packheiser, who has 12 professional wins and six defeats.
Skelton is also expected to appear on the same 4 June card in Manchester.
