Tyson's last fight resulted in defeat to Britain's Danny Williams |
Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will return to the ring on 11 June against Irishman Kevin McBride. The fight, set for Washington DC's MCI Center, will be Tyson's first since his painful 2004 loss to Danny Williams.
"I am excited about performing before these people and plan to give them a show they will never forget," said the 38-year-old American on Tuesday.
McBride, 31, had been lined up to fight Tyson in 2004 before Williams agreed to take less money for the fight.
The 6ft 6in "Clones Colossus" boasts a professional record of 32 victories, four losses and a draw, winning his last seven fights inside the distance.
But his record is blotted by stoppage losses against Axel Schulz and DaVarryl Williamson.
"I want to shock the world," said McBride, adding: "After I beat Mike, I want to fight for the world title."
Tyson boasts a career mark of 50 wins and five losses with 44 knockouts.
