Darren Corbett has been inactive in recent years |
Belfast light heavyweight Darren Corbett will have his first fight in almost a year when he takes on Armenian Varuzhan Davtyan on 23 April. Corbett, who has not fight since last June, will make his return to the ring over 10 rounds at the Ulster Hall.
Davtyan has lost his last five contests including a fifth-round stoppage by WBU champion Tony Oakey six weeks ago.
Corbett is hoping that an impressive display could earn him a bout with Oakey later in the year.
Various injuries have contributed to Corbett's lack of bouts in recent years but he hopes that he yet could make an impact at world level.
Thirty-two-year-old Davtyan has won only five of his 20 professional bouts.
