Mitchell chose to turn pro before the 2004 Olympics |
Dagenham super featherweight Kevin Mitchell says a fight with Amir Khan could happen within two years. The 21-year-old former ABA champion has signed a new contract with promoter Frank Warren, who also has Bolton lightweight Khan on his books.
Both undefeated fighters will appear on the undercard of Danny Williams v Audley Harrison on 10 December.
"Khan has called me out and reckons he'd beat me, but when we get it on we'll see who's best," said Mitchell.
"I'm excited by this new deal which, providing me and Khan stay around the same weight, could see us get it on in a couple of years."
Mitchell will challenge for the IBF Intercontinental title against an unnamed opponent at London's Excel Centre.
Khan will have his fourth professional fight providing he gets through Steve Gethin this Saturday at the Braehead Arena.
Mitchell stopped experienced Yorkshireman Daniel Thorpe in Preston last week to take his record to 16-0 with 11 stoppages.
He was recently voted the Boxing Writers' Best Young Boxer of the Year.
