Roundwatch: Eastman v Hopkins
All the action as Howard Eastman loses on points to undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins in Los Angeles.

Round 12: Eastman needs a big finish and he explodes into life at the start of the round, but is met squarely by Hopkins. In his desperation to push forward, Eastman gets a picked off a couple of times. As the final bell sounds, his world-title attempt has been brave but has come up short.
Hopkins wins 119-110 117-111 116-112 on points

Round 11: Eastman lands another beauty, forcing the champion to clinch briefly. But he fails to follow up and time is running out.

Round 10: A quieter round is punctuated by a tidy Eastman uppercut, but it is not enough. Hopkins is almost certainly well ahead on points.

Round nine: The longer this fight goes, the more likely Eastman is to need a knockout punch and that is making for an increasingly fierce bout. Hopkins catches the Briton with a strong right before Eastman hits back at the bell.

Round eight: Hopkins has a lock-tight defensive stance that Eastman is finding hard to pick. Out of nowhere though, the Briton lands one and rocks his opponent back. The fighters trade at the bell - and after the bell as the contest bubbles over.

Round seven: Eastman gets caught with a short right and he looks to be running out of ideas. He needs to start winning some rounds, but Hopkins will not make it easy - the wily American may have worked out his challenger.

Round six: Eastman failed to deliver on his fifth-round KO pledge and now Hopkins goes on the attack. A clubbing over-the-top right troubles Eastman, who is starting to get caught with a few. Round to Hopkins.

Round five: Eastman explodes out of his corner and rocks the champion with a deft combination. But Hopkins replies with some shuddering shots of his own. Eastman looks a bit jaded in his corner, but he's still in it - could there be a huge upset on the cards?

Round four: The tactical battle continues and neither fighter has taken the upper hand. A flurry of punches start the round, but the tempo falls back again.

Round three: Eastman is the busier fighter as he tries to land short rights on the incoming Hopkins. The fight is still pretty even but this has been an encouraging start for the British challenger.

Round two: In true Hollywood style, the LA crowd is already jeering at the lack of action. Meanwhile, the fighters continue to size each other up. Eastman darts in on the occasional offensive but is soon repelled by canny Hopkins.

Round one: Wearing bright yellow trunks, Eastman tries to dictate early. Concentration is etched on the Briton's face, but Hopkins - traditionally a slow-starter - looks composed as he feels his way into the contest. An even and uneventful opening.

Build-up: Both boxers make their way into the ring and there is a real buzz around the arena with former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson and film star Jack Nicholson among the celebrities at ringside.

The Hopkins camp parade all four major belts that mean British middleweight Eastman is going for the undisputed world title.

The "Battersea Bomber" starts as a big underdog against Hopkins - widely considered to be the best pound-for-pound boxer around.

But Eastman has backed his own chances, predicting a stunning five-round KO at the Staples Center.

Earlier, British light welterweight prospect Junior Witter came through his title eliminator with Lovemore N'Dou with a narrow points victory.

But compatriot Carl Froch suffered disappointment when his US debut was called off at the last minute.
