Clinton Woods is desperate to set up a rematch with Roy Jones Jr if the American wins his third fight against Antonio Tarver on 1 October. Sheffield star Woods defended his IBF light heavyweight title for the first time by outpointing Julio Gonzalez.
And he now hopes to establish himself as a dominant champion by avenging an emphatic 2002 loss to Jones.
"I feel when he beat me, I was still a baby. I didn't mature until I was 32. I'd love that fight again," he said.
"Overall I'm just a better fighter than when I fought Jones. I'm stronger and more confident now.
"I wasn't overawed against him. Even though he beat me over six rounds and stopped me, that fight was the most enjoyable.
"It was a fantastic experience against the world's number one at the time.
"I tested myself against the best, came up short, changed a few things and I feel as though I would definitely have a chance with anybody now."
Woods' promoters Dennis Hobson and Robert Waterman are likely to travel to Florida to be ringside for Jones v Tarver and will then look to do a deal.
