Rees targets lightweights
Gavin Rees and trainer Enzo Calzaghe
Rees impressed in stopping Michael Muya
Gavin Rees says he will continue to campaign at lightweight after storming to a two-round win over Michael Muya in his debut at the weight.

"I feel strong at lightweight and think I'll stay here," said Rees, 24.

"I have more stamina and more power in my punches, I was struggling to make super featherweight."

The undefeated Newbridge boxer had been due to meet Mike Anchondo for the vacant WBO super featherweight title, but weight problems ruled him out.

Instead he is targeting the winner of Graham Earl and Steve Murray, who meet for the British lightweight title on 30 July.

"I'd love to box the winner, I've been out of action for a year but now I'm ready to get back on track," added Rees.

The fight could potentially be held in Cardiff in September when Joe Calzaghe is expected to return to action.
