McCullough's comeback off
McCullough and Scott Harrison

Wayne McCullough's planned comeback against Uganda's John Mackay on 19 June has been called off.

The former WBC bantamweight champion injured his left hand in training and has had to withdraw from the fight.

Belfast's "Pocket Rocket" was to be the chief support to Audley Harrison's next fight at Alexandra Palace.

McCullough, who has not fought since losing a world featherweight challenge to Scott Harrison last March, now aims to return to the ring in August.

"Next summer will be 10 years ago since I was world champion and I want to be fighting for a world title again by then, possibly at super bantamweight," said McCullough.

"It was an old problem which I aggravated in training and I will see a doctor in America before making any plans.

"I had a cortisone injection six weeks ago but my hand began to ache. I didn't want to go into the ring with a disadvantage."
