Bowe as he was in his prime |
Riddick Bowe has teamed up with trainer Buddy McGirt as he plots to win the world heavyweight crown one more time. Bowe was released from prison in May after serving 18 months for kidnapping his wife and their children in 1998.
The 36-year-old intends to fight three times a month starting in July and could still be a major force in a mediocre heavyweight division.
Bowe became undisputed world champion by beating Evander Holyfield in 1992 but lost a rematch in 1993.
The New York native went on to beat Britain's Herbie Hide in 1995 to land the WBO belt.
Bowe's career ended in 1996 after he twice defeated Andrew Golota when the Pole was disqualified for repeated low blows.
