Eastman rebuffs Sendra jibe
Howard Eastman
Eastman is keen to take revenge for Sendra's taunts
European middleweight champion Howard Eastman has stepped up his war of words ahead of his fight with Spain's Jorge Sendra on 24 September.

The "Battersea Bomber" wants to impress as he steps up his bid for a bout with top American Bernard Hopkins.

But he has been stung after the Spaniard reportedly labelled Eastman as "too ugly" to win.

"I want him to back up his words. Then I will make him eat his words - I am going to take him out," Eastman said.

Sendra said he was not impressed when he watched Eastman's last bout, a points win over Russia's Sergey Tatevosyan.

"I guess that I could knock him out earlier, but if I have to make a prediction, I will tell that I will win by tenth round stoppage, because I want to punish him," he said.

But Eastman said he was in good shape, and was already eyeing a fight against Hopkins - who fights Oscar de la Hoya on 18 September.

"I see that as a one-sided fight," Howard said.

"Hopkins will knock out De La Hoya, I can't see the fight going twelve rounds.

"Given that,, you never know with boxing and Danny Williams proved that against Mike Tyson.

"I'm just hoping that I get the opportunity to fight the winner and I'm confident enough to box them in the States.

"I am going to knock out Sendra first though."
