Cook defeated Ariel Olveira to claim the IBO title |
Kevin Bennett plans to snatch the IBO lightweight title from Jason Cook in front of the champion's home crowd. "I want to prove the so-called experts wrong by beating Cook on his own turf," Bennett told Hartlepool Today.
Maesteg fighter Cook, 28, makes the first defence of his belt on Saturday night in Bridgend Leisure Centre.
Bennett, also 28 and known as "The Bulldog", relinquished the Commonwealth lightweight title to challenge Cook.
The bout was scheduled to take place on 28 February, but Cook withdrew at the last minute with flu.
Heavyweight prospect Scott 'the Hammer' Gammer will fight on the undercard, the Pembroke Dock puncher boosted after signing a new three-year contract with promoter Barry Hearn.
Young, unbeaten Loughor light welterweight Ceri Hall also fights against an unnamed opponent.
The 24-year-old has agreed a three-fight deal with Hearn.
