Floyd Mayweather Jr. could fight Arturo Gatti if he beats Demarcus Corley on his debut as a light welterweight. The former super featherweight and lightweight world champion faces Corley in Atlantic City on 22 May.
And the bout is being billed as a WBC title eliminator, with the all-action Gatti reportedly lined up for a shot at the winner.
Corley will be looking to put himself back in the title frame after losing his WBO belt to Zab Judah last July.
Mayweather appears in court on 23 April on a charge of domestic battery, which carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.
The touted clash with Gatti, the WBC's interim champion at 140lbs, may be dependent on the outcome of his case.
