Mayweather proved too tough for the South African |
Floyd Mayweather fought off a brave challenge from Phillip N'dou to retain his WBC lightweight crown.
The fight was stopped in round seven when N'dou failed to respond to commands from the referee after the American had put him on the canvas.
The South African looked impressive early on, before Mayweather took control in the fifth and sixth.
Three big right hands from the champion in next round proved too much for the N'dou.
Earlier on the bill, Juan Manuel Marquez became the IBF/WBA featherweight champion after taking a technical decision over Derrick Gainer.
The bout ended when Gainer was cut over the left eye by an unintentional head butt in round seven.
Two judges gave Marquez every round 70-63, while the other judge had Marquez ahead 69-64.
