Eamonn Magee would like to fight at Cliftonville |
WBU welterweight champion Eamonn Magee is keen to stage a big open air contest at Cliftonville football ground in Belfast. Magee, who won the world title in December, was a guest at the club's Irish League match agsinst Crusaders on 26 December.
Magee's manager Mike Callahan is to discuss the proposal for a May or June bill with promoter Frank Warren.
"It would be a dream come true for me to fight at Solitude," said Magee.
The Belfast boxer's coach, John Breen, said there was no reason why Solitude could not host a major contest.
"There is no bigger draw in Irish boxing than Eamonn and what an occasion it would be to have such an event at Cliftonville," Breen told the Belfast Telegraph.
"We had a great time recently when Eamonn went up to show off his belt and we were very pleased with what the club's chairman Hugh McCartan had to say."
