The world heavyweight champion is reported by The Daily Express to have lined up at least three bouts for the next 18 months. At almost 37 and after victory over Mike Tyson in June, it was thought that Lewis would retire at the top, having won a place among the greats of the sport. But the Briton is said to feel that he is in the best shape of his career and wants to cash in while he is still capable of winning.
A fight with John Ruiz has also been mooted but would seem unlikely. A fight with Vladimir Klitschko could prove a big earner for both men, with the likelihood of a stadium venue in either London or Germany a realistic prospect. Lewis is due to return to London in September, around the same time that purse bids for the Byrd fight close, when he is set to announce his plan to continue fighting. | See also: 20 Aug 02 | Boxing 20 Aug 02 | Boxing 09 Jun 02 | Lewis v Tyson fight 09 Jun 02 | Lewis v Tyson fight 09 Jun 02 | Lewis v Tyson fight Top Boxing stories now: Links to more Boxing stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
