| Thursday, 4 July, 2002, 11:31 GMT 12:31 UK McCullough fight switched to Manchester Wayne McCullough's British licence has been restored Wayne McCullough, will not after all be making his return to a British ring in Wales. The former WBC bantamweight title holder's comeback has been switched to September's big show in Manchester, featuring light welterweight Ricky Hatton. McCullough recently won his battle to have his British licence restored following a brain scan query. He had been battling with the British Board to get permission to box again in the UK following the detection of a cyst near his brain in November 2000. New promoter McCullough was cleared in the United States and made a winning return to the ring earlier this year having been licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. However, the British Boxing Board of Control's decision to give the Belfast fighter the all-clear prompted the resignation of five BBBC doctors. McCullough's new promoter, Frank Warren, said he would like to meet George Neill, the first doctor to quit over the issue.
