Dobriskey won 1500m gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games |
Olympic silver medalist Colin Jackson believes 1500m runner Lisa Dobriskey can shine at London 2012 despite a poor World Athletics Championships in Daegu. The 27-year-old runner won silver at the 2009 Championships but did not make it past the first round in South Korea. But former World 110m hurdles champion Jackson told BBC Radio Kent: "Kelly [Holmes] was in her 30's when she came and shone. "Perhaps Lisa could have that opportunity too." He continued: "When people are injured, you don't age. I know that sounds really weird, but you don't have the wear-and-tear on your body. "So now Lisa hasn't been able to perform to her height really - she'll be able to come through at a steadier pace." Ashford-born Dobriskey burst onto the world stage in 2006 when she won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. She followed that up with silver at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, but has since struggled with injuries.
