Double European champion Mo Farah began 2011 in style as he captained Great Britain to victory in the team race at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country.
Farah took the lead midway through the 8.2km race and powered clear to win.
"I wanted to do well here, it was something different and I really enjoyed it," he told BBC Sport.
Eliud Kipchoge led home a Kenyan clean sweep in the men's 4km race, while Linet Masai won the women's 6km race, with Britain's Charlotte Purdue fourth.
Farah, 27, is Great Britain's best hope of challenging African dominance over 5,000 and 10,000m at the London 2012 Olympics.
He needed treatment following the Edinburgh event last year after coming close to collapsing but he was in great form in snowy conditions on Saturday and looked particularly powerful as he pulled away from the field up the hill.
"I put a burst in but knew the guys had a strong finish so I wanted to keep pushing and progressing," he said.
Asked if he was feeling the pressure of increased expectations following his superb 2010, Farah said: "No, it's something I worked hard for, I've been out in Kenya training hard.
"I don't feel pressure, it's something I love doing every day."
Farah remains undecided about defending his European indoor title in Paris in March, adding: "I would love to defend my title but I have to think about bigger things.

"I've finished sixth and seventh in the World Championships and I really want to do better there. It's hard to peak twice and I really want to do well in Daegu [South Korea].
"I want to do something different, I want to go to Albuquerque. It's where Paula [Radcliffe] trains, it's for training there and there's a good group.
"I really want to give it all in Daegu, it's all about worlds. It's very hard to peak twice in one year so I'll have to talk to my coach."
European junior cross country Purdue, 19, said she was "over the moon" with her fourth place in the women's race.
"I've had to miss this race the last three years through injury, so to even be here is a great stepping stone," she said.
"I'm really pleased with the way the race went. I wish I could have got closer to the first three, maybe with another lap I could have because I prefer longer distances, but this is really good."
