Kibunja won the Jersey Marathon last year after finishing third in 2008 |
Organisers of the Jersey marathon have revealed that nearly half of this year's 400 competitors come from outside the island. The 26.2 mile race, which was won by Kenya's Joseph Kibunja last year, is set to take place on Sunday, 3 October. Race director Helen Baker told BBC Jersey: "Nearly half of the marathon entries are from outside of the island. "They're from the Czech Republic, Norway, Finland, Ireland, France and there's one from Oregon in the USA." Baker added: "The preparations are going well. "All of our race numbers are now all here and packed in boxes and sorted out so once that's all done I feel a bit calmer."
