Dwain Chambers, mascot Barni and Lisa Dobriskey hoping to shine in Spain
By Mark Ashenden
World heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis leads a British team taking on Europe's top talent at the European Championships. The pressure is mounting with two years before London 2012.
Here's a daily breakdown on when the GB and international big-hitters (plus mascot Barni) could make the headlines in Barcelona (all times in BST). I'll be performing live text commentary duties for much of the championships.
The men's marathon starts the final day's action at 0905, before GB's Chris Tomlinson takes to the sand in the long jump, while Lisa Dobriskey will be aiming to go one better in the 1500m final at 2015, following last year's stunning world silver.
Ennis excited ahead of Europeans
Look out for the madness of the baton with GB's 400m squad (world silver in Berlin) going for more relay medals.
Reigning indoor and outdoor world champion Blanka Vlasic will continue her majestic grace in the high jump.
Did you know? Dobriskey, upgraded to silver in Berlin after the disqualification of Spaniard Natalia Rodriguez for pushing over Gelete Burka, has an eclectic mix in who she admires. Her heroes? Cyclist Lance Armstrong, Olympic legend Carl Lewis and former South Africa president Nelson Mandela.
