Pavey was hoping to make an impact in Barcelona

Britain's Jo Pavey has been ruled out of the European Athletics Championships, which start in Barcelona on Tuesday, with a toe injury.

Pavey, 36, from Devon, who missed last year after having a baby, was due to run in the 10,000m final on Wednesday

But the injury has not improved sufficiently to give her enough quality training in order to compete.

She joins the likes of Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu, Goldie Sayers and Kelly Sotherton on the sidelines.
