Bolt dominated over 200m at the last Diamond league meeting, in Shanghai Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has withdrawn from the Diamond League meeting in New York on 12 June because of an inflamed Achilles tendon. The World and Olympic champion was due to face American Tyson Gay at the meeting in a 100m showdown between the world's two fastest men. But in a statement from event organisers, Bolt said he had developed stiffness in the tendon last week. He has been advised to take a two-to-three week break by a doctor. The meeting, which will be held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, is the fifth of 14 stops on the Diamond League circuit. Before then, there are events in Oslo on 4 June and Rome six days later. Bolt narrowly failed to break Michael Johnson's world record in the 300m at an IAAF World Challenge event in Ostrava last week.
