The chances for athletes to come through the ranks before the London Olympics are running out. With two years to go and the latest indoor season under way, who could make a name for themselves in 2010?
Toby Sandeman, 200m. The 2009 UK champion was in flying form until injury wrecked his hopes of Worlds glory in Berlin. Won two golds at European U-23 Championships and could be the face of 2012 after modelling for Vogue
Shaunna Thompson, 100m/200m. Took two golds with personal bests at 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games and was fourth in 2009 World Youth Championships. With guidance from Darren Campbell, more medals should follow
Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun, 200m. This 23-year-old has only been running for four years after being spotted dashing for a bus. Was fastest man over 200m in Europe going into last year's World trials. Plenty left in the tank
Perri Shakes-Drayton, 400m hurdles. Agonisingly missed out to Tasha Danvers for 2008 Olympics spot after beating her in trials. Crowned Euro U-23 champ in 2009 and just missed out on Worlds final. Star in the making
Lawrence Clarke, 110m hurdles. Became European Junior champ last year after a string of medals in youth ranks. He is guided by Colin Jackson's ex-coach Malcolm Arnold and there are big hopes for this electric sprinter
Rowena Cole, 800m. A stunning 2009 saw this lively middle distance star win bronze at the England Under-20 Championships before picking up another impressive bronze at the World Youth Championships in Italy
Nial Flannery, 400m hurdles. Fourth at 2009 Euro Junior Championships and may now run at Commonwealths and Europeans as a senior. A top hockey and tennis player, he always wears same underwear in competitions
Charlotte Purdue, cross country. Top European finisher in the last two junior World Cross Country Championships and won silver at the 2008 junior European Championships. Hugely ambitious and also loves her ballet
James Brewer, 1500m. After a shock win at 2007 UK indoor championships, he won silver at 2009 Euro U-23 Championships and just missed out on 1500m final at Worlds last year. He could blossom this year as a senior
Sarah Holt, hammer. Bigger stages beckon after her bronze at 2009 U-23 Euro Championships and third at 2009 Worlds trials. Holt is in the top three UK juniors of all time and is raring to go after hip surgery in the summer
