Cirencester runner Wendy Nicholls has won the Ladies Race Stroud half-marathon, to retain her title for the second consecutive year. Nicholls finished in 75 minutes and 14 seconds on Sunday, two minutes clear of Team Bath's Holly Rush. She told BBC Radio Gloucestershire the win made up for her bad run in October at the World Road Running Championships in Rio where she finished 40th. "I find this a really tough course, especially the last couple of miles." She continued: "I just paced it well. "It is not a great time but I had a club mate to pace myself around so tagged on his shoulder and sprinted in with him." Nick Renault from the Long Eaton Running Club near Nottingham won the men's race in 65 minutes and 24 seconds. More than 1,700 professional and amateur runners took part in the half-marathon competition.
