Skillicorn has won four Winter Hill League titles in a row

Newly-crowned Manx Fell running champion Simon Skillicorn narrowly won the Isle of Man's James Coulson Laxey Fell race on Saturday.

Skillicorn set off behind the field and only just caught early pace-setter Tom Cringle to finish first in one hour 12 minutes eight seconds ahead of Cringle.

Rose Hooton took the women's race in 1:46:17, with Bridget Kaneen four minutes behind in second place.

The three-race Winter Hill series starts on 18 October at Glen Roy.

The next fixture is Peel Hill on 15 November, with the challenging Slieu Whallian finishing the series on 13 December.
