Commonwealth Youth team revealed

Ciara Mageann finished 10th in the 1500m at the World Juniors

Athletics Northern Ireland has selected a six-strong team for the Commonwealth Youth Games which will take place in Pune, India in October.

World Junior finalist Ciara Mageean will be joined in India by Hannah Lewis, Ben Reynolds, Gaby McNally, Curtis Woods and Edward Mourbey.

Mageean will attempt the 800m/1500m double while Lewis will compete in the 200m and long jump.

The third Commonwealth Youth Games will take place from 12-18 October.

Curtis Woods will be in action in the 200m and 400m, Ben Reynolds will compete in the high jump and 110m hurdles while Edward Mourbey will participate in the pole vault.

Mourbey has a personal best of 4.65m.

Hammer thrower Gaby McNally has set numerous British age group records and the 16-year-old has a personal best of 48.61m.

Woods competed for Ireland in the 4x400m relay at the recent World Junior Championships in Poland.

Reynolds set a high jump personal best of 2.07m earlier this summer and he has represented Britain in Decathlon events.

Hannah Lewis recently improved her 200m personal best to 24.51 which came a few weeks after she helped the Irish team set a new national junior 4x100m record at the World Juniors.

The team will be managed by former Commonwealth Games discus silver medallist Jackie McKernan, who is Athletics Northern Ireland's coaching and development manager.

Nineteen athletes across six sports will represent Northern Ireland in India.
