The International Island Games Association's executive committee is recommending that the 2013 Island Games should be held in Bermuda. The British overseas territory, which is about 1,000 miles east of the USA in the Atlantic, is bidding against Canada's Prince Edward Island. Each of the 25 member islands will vote on the hosts at the IIGA's meeting is Aland this summer. Aland is hosting the 2009 games, with the 2011 games in the Isle of Wight. Each member island will have two votes in the ballot for the hosts, with each member of the eight-man executive committee having one vote each. It is expected that the number of sportspeople, including managers and officials, in Aland for the 2009 Island Games could be approximately 3,700. The 2013 games will be the 15th edition of the biennial games for small island communities and competitors come from places including the Falkland Islands, Rhodes, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Menorca.
