Calls for repeat Island Games bid
Sailboarding at the games
The inaugural games were held on the island in 1985
The Tourism Minister has said he wants the Isle of Man to host the Island Games sports event.

There are 25 member islands who compete in the games, which take place every two years.

MHK Adrian Earnshaw claims it is so high-profile it now attracts more competitors than the winter Olympics.

The hosts have been decided until 2011 but Mr Earnshaw said he hopes that in the future, the Isle of Man will be considered once more.

This year's games are being held on the Greek island of Rhodes.

The Isle of Man hosted the inaugural games in 1985 and then again in 2001.

Mr Earnshaw said some organisational problems with this year's games in Rhodes highlights how well the Isle of Man coped.
