US sprinter Mike Rodgers says it would give him a lot of satisfaction to beat drugs cheat Dwain Chambers at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia.

Rodgers could face the Briton, who has returned to action for a second time after a two-year drugs ban, over 60m.

"If he is dirty, he is dirty," Rodgers, who won the American trials in 6.54 seconds, told BBC Sport.

"If I beat him it will be a more powerful thing for me because I would have beaten a dirty athlete."

Chambers was banned for two years after taking the performance-enhancing steroid THG.

The 29-year-old Briton returned to athletics in 2005 but looked to have turned his back on the sport when he decided to try his luck in American Football.

However, he opted to return to the track again this season and, much to the displeasure of UK Athletics, qualified for the 60m at the World Indoors, which start on Friday.

Chambers will be one of the favourites in Spain after clocking 6.56secs to win the trials in Sheffield, but Rodgers will be a formidable and outspoken adversary.

"I'm not bothered about racing him but it's going to be hard facing him," said the American college 60m and 200m champion.

"A couple of years ago I made a promise to my aunt that I wouldn't put anything in my body that's not supposed to be there. I don't even take multi-vitamins.

"If you feel you have to put something in your body to go faster then the sport is not good for you - get another job."

Rodgers also has little sympathy for Justin Gatlin.

His countryman, who won the 2004 Olympic 100m title, is appealing against a four-year ban imposed for testing positive for testosterone in 2006.

If successful, he could defend his title in Beijing, although Rodgers would not be happy.

"If you are guilty of a doping offence then you should not be allowed to run," he said. That's how I feel about it."

Looking ahead to the outdoor season, Rodgers said he is ready to make a big impact on the world stage.

"I plan to do great things at the US Olympic trials," he said.

"I want to run 9.80 seconds in 100m and crack the 20-second barrier in the 200m."
