Ohuruogu marked her return after a year's ban with a Worlds gold

The British Olympic Association handed Ohuruogu a lifetime ban from Olympic selection after she was banned for a year for missing three doping tests.

But Warner told BBC Radio 5live: "I'm very hopeful there are two precedents that stand her in very good stead.

"Let's be really clear, this is a young athlete that has never failed a test."

The BOA has received her appeal, which is supported by UK Athletics, and an independently-chaired appeals panel will hear it in due course.

World triathlon champion Tim Don successfully appealed against a similar ban given for a similar offence, which would suggest Ohuruogu has reason to be optimistic.

And Warner says the 23-year-old, who took gold at the World Championships last week and helped the 4x400m relay team to bronze, has his full backing.

"Amongst all the hurly burly and ill-informed comments in the media this past week, let's not forget she has never ever failed a drugs test," he said, "and she has taken many, many tests in the past year.

"This is an individual case and it needs to be argued on that basis.
