Ohuruogu is set to return to the track later in the year |
Christine Ohuruogu's coach Lloyd Cowan says it has been a difficult job to get his charge back on track as she comes to the end of a 12-month ban. The 400m runner is serving a suspension for missing three drugs tests but can return to action on 6 August.
She has already set a qualifying time for the World Championships in Osaka later this year.
"It's hard to watch an athlete almost destroyed. To build her up again is a job and a half," Cowan told Five Live.
Cowan also believes that Ohuruogu could be part of the Great Britain squad at the World Championships.
"I haven't put any expectations on Christine. She's been through a lot so to be part of a relay team, that's less pressure, but it's her call at the end of the day," he added.
"You've got to rebuild something that's so innocent and sweet and then they try to corrupt her and it's even hard for me.
"Christine has been tested eight times since January and no other athlete has been tested that many times. We need a fair playing field."
