Thanou's two-year ban expired in December

Thanou was suspended for two years after missing three drug tests in the run-up to the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Her suspension ended in December and the 32-year-old Thanou has run the 60m in 7.22 seconds since returning.

Thanou is an ex-European 100m champion and is expected to challenge for the 60m title she won seven years ago.

Thanou and her former training partner, Kostas Kenteris, missed drug tests and withdrew from the 2004 Games after spending four days in hospital, claiming they had been involved in a motorcycle crash.

They were cleared by the Greek federation, but an IAAF appeal was settled only this summer.

The athletes reached an agreement with the IAAF, conceding that they had violated anti-doping rules and accepting a two-year suspension in return for the charges of evasion and refusal being withdrawn.

The athletes face separate charges in the Greek courts of perjury, making a false statement to the authorities and with having encouraged medical staff to issue false certificates on their behalf.

A hospital statement issued after they were admitted said Kenteris suffered from a lesion to the head.

Thanou was said to have bruises on the abdomen, the right thigh and the adductors of her right leg.

But a forensic surgeon who examined the pair found no evidence for such injuries.
