Morris injured her knee warming up before the Great South Run |
Tracey Morris fears she could be forced to miss April's London Marathon. Morris shot to fame by finishing as the highest-placed Briton three years ago, a performance which gained her selection for the 2004 Olympic Games.
But a knee injury last October has hindered her preparation, and she now faces a race against time to get fit.
"I'm hoping things have now turned a corner and we'll see what preparations I can get under my belt in the next 10 weeks," said 39-year-old Morris.
"Obviously, everything will depend on how things go when I start serious training again this weekend.
"I want to do London, as it is the trial race for the world championships in August, which I'm very keen to do."
Holyhead-born Morris, a contact lens optician in Leeds, missed the 2005 event with an ankle injury.
She finished fourth with a personal best time of 2 hours 33 minutes 13 seconds competing for Wales at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and then finished 16th at the European Championships in August last year.
