O'Rourke won silver at the European Championships last year |
World indoor champion Derval O'Rourke has ruled herself out of the Irish Indoor Championships later this month. The Cork athlete has been troubled by injury this winter.
However, on the plus side Olympic Decathlete champion Roman Sebrle will compete in the 60m hurdles, the 200m and the high jump in Belfast.
David Gillick, fresh from breaking Paul McKee's Irish Indoor 400m with a 45.91 clocking in Dortmund will run the 60m. McKee will run the 400m in Belfast.
The Irish indoors will also see Anna Boyle up against British number two sprinter Anyika Onuora.
Boyle recently beat Onuora over 60 metres in Bratislava and last weekend the Dunloy woman appeared to have improved her own Irish Indoor record in Cardiff only to be left frustrated by a timing malfunction.
The clock initially showed 7.25 seconds at the Celtic Cup meeting but a problem with the electronic timing meant that it couldn't be considered for record purposes.
Boyle set her national mark of 7.32 when winning the Irish title at the Odyssey Arena last November.
The Irish Championships will be held on 17 and 18 February.
