Johnson has won seven world titles both indoors and outdoors |
Veteran American hurdler Allen Johnson has confirmed that he will compete in the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on 27 January. The 35-year-old former Olympic champion is included in a United States team that will compete in the annual match for the first time in 13 years.
"I may be approaching 36, but there's no way I'm giving up yet," he said.
Double Olympic 1,500 metre medallist Bernard Lagat has already said that he will be competing in the event.
The 32-year-old, who was second behind world record holder Hicham El Guerrouj in Athens two years ago, said it would be his first visit to Glasgow.
World high-jump champion Kajsa Bergqvist will also take part.
Great Britain, Germany, the United States, Sweden and a Commonwealth select team will compete in Glasgow.

Johnson, who won the 110m hurdles at the IAAF World Cup in Athens in September, hopes to show that he can still compete at the top level.
"I think my World Cup win proved there's plenty left in me, and I want to go to those World Championships in contention for medals," he added.
"It's great that the US will have a team at this match again and it's great to be involved in that team."
Johnson will also race in the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Birmingham on 17 February.
Lagat switched nationalities from Kenya to the USA and had to miss last year's World Championships in Helsinki as governing body the IAAF impose a qualification period before athletes can compete for their new country.
However, Lagat is now free to compete for the USA at this year's World Championships in Osaka and is desperate to add to the silver medal he won at the 2001 event in Edmonton.
"This is a major year for me with the World Championships in Japan in August - an event I was not able to compete in last time round. So I feel I have something to prove," he said.
"Before then, I'm really looking forward to the two meetings in Britain. I've run in most of the regular stops on the circuit, but this will be my first visit to Glasgow."
Bergqvist, who won bronze at the European Championships, is aiming to break her own Kelvin Hall stadium-best height of two metres one centimetre.
"I can't wait to get my 2007 season under way with another outing in Glasgow," said the Swede.
"I've something to prove after failing to win a gold medal in Gothenburg."
Bergqvist remains the favourite for a gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in March.
And the 30-year-old added: "It is important to start the season with a bang at the Kelvin Hall.
"I set a stadium record last year and see no reason why I can't better it this time round."
