Pavey made her debut on the road in October |
Jo Pavey has announced her intention to compete in the European Cross Country Championships in Italy in December. Pavey followed up her half-marathon debut at the Great North run with a win in the Great South Run on Sunday.
And Pavey said: "I would like to run at the Euro cross country and although I'm certainly interested in doing a marathon it will not be next spring."
Men's distance runner Mo Farah will join Pavey in South Africa to prepare for the cross country event.
Farah starred in his club Newham and Essex Beagles' win in the National Six Stage Road Relays at Sutton Coldfield on Saturday and is confident of a medal in Italy.
He said: "If we can get our best team out at the Europeans, we can win the title."
Pavey mastered atrocious weather conditions to become the first domestic winner of the Great South Run in Portsmouth for eight years.
And in outlining her plans for next season, she hinted at competing in a marathon.
"My plans for next summer include competing over 10,000m at the World Championships and I will have to get the qualifier for that.
"The Great South Run proves that I am progressing in the right direction towards a marathon but for the moment I haven't a clue of where and when."
