Pavey has had a heavy racing schedule in the past few weeks |
Commonwealth 5000m silver medallist Jo Pavey has pulled out of this weekend's IAAF World Cup final in Athens. The 32-year-old was due to run over 3,000m but sustained a calf muscle problem in the World Athletics final in Stuttgart on Sunday.
Pavey's withdrawal means that Becky Lyne will be the sole British representative in Team Europe.
World record holder Asafa Powell has also pulled out of the 100m but will still compete in the 4x100m relay.
The 10th running of the four-yearly event pitches teams together from Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania, USA plus Russia, France, Poland and Greece.
The event takes place on 16-17 September.
