Gothenburg will be Pritchard's first major championship |
Cardiff 800m runner Amanda Pritchard says she is delighted to win a call-up to the European Championship team. A late lunge for fifth place under the two-minute mark at the London Grand Prix saw the 26-year-old win selection.
"It's great, I haven't been to a major championship before so I'm not sure how I'll feel," said Pritchard.
Her selection came after Christian Malcolm's hamstring injury ruled him out of the Gothenburg event, leaving the number of Welsh athletes at six.
The Newport sprinter is expected to be out for five-to-six weeks.
Pritchard joins marathon runner Tracey Morris in the British women's side.
Tim Benjamin (400m) is Wales' best male hope, while Rhys Williams and Dave Greene (both 400m hurdles) and Steve Davies (1500m) also compete.
