Jade Johnson has vowed to make the most of her last opportunity to reach the European Championships qualifying mark at the London Grand Prix on Friday. The 26-year-old British long jumper admits she faces a tough task to meet the required standard at Crystal Palace following a minor kidney operation.
"Unless something disastrous happens, I'll be there," said the Londoner.
"I have one goal in my mind and that is jumping 6.65m. It's my last chance and I hope it will be my day."
Although the 2004 Olympic finalist has scored the required 6.50m distance demanded by the European Athletics Association, she is still 2cm short of the UK Athletics elite standard of 6.65 to make it Gothenburg next month.
She finished second to Kelly Sotherton at last weekend's European trials but was not included in the first wave of selections for the GB side named on Tuesday.

Despite still battling to recover from the operation to cure the kidney problem last week, Johnson admits she is determined to book her place on the flight to Sweden.
"I'll be 100% thinking about getting the qualifier on Friday and even if I come last to do it I'll be happy," she said.
"I don't feel fully fit at the moment but it's been a difficult season, especially after last year.
"But hard times make you stronger. I just need to get my rhythm back. I'm sure I can pull it off."
