Marion Jones is confident partner Tim Montgomery will be cleared of wrongdoing at his Court of Arbitration hearing into alleged drugs offences. The US Anti-Doping Agency has called for a lifetime ban, while Montgomery protests his innocence and has never failed a doping test.
Jones said: "Tim is extremely hopeful that things will go his way in a few weeks in the CAS hearings.
"Hopefully by the (US) trials it will be cleared up in his favour."
Those trials are due to take place on 24 June, but Jones also revealed Montgomery will compete in Europe before his CAS hearing on 6 June.
Both Jones and Montgomery are being investigated as part of a wider inquiry into San Francisco company Balco laboratories and its boss Victor Conte, who are alleged to have supplied performance enhancing drugs to athletes.
But Jones, who similarly protests her innocence and has never failed a drugs test, said: "I don't announce other promoter's meets, but you'll see him over the next week or so. He's excited to be competing.
"He's in good spirits overall, he's training hard and, similar to me, he's using this as much of his motivation.
"Although there's been this European boycott of Marion Jones, many of the meets won't let him compete, until his is cleared up as well."
On Sunday, Jones competed in the Thales-FBK Games IAAF Grand Prix in Hengelo, Holland, where she finished second in the 100m.
The 29-year-old will compete next in Milan's IAAF Grand Prix meeting on Wednesday as she seeks to hit top form for the US trials.
