Pavey has struggled with illness and injury last year |
Jo Pavey is hoping that Kelly Holmes' magic rubs off on her as she aims to put the misery of 2005 behind her. Pavey has been training at the same South African base that Holmes used prior to winning two Olympic golds.
After missing last summer's World Championships with a virus, Pavey is targeting Commonwealth gold in 2006.
After a successful comeback in Italy last week, 5,000m star Pavey has now been confirmed for the Great Edinburgh Cross Country event on 14 January.
Pavey finished third in the Boclassic Silvester Lauf road race in Bolzano on New Year's Eve, behind Isabella Ochichi and Aniko Kalovics.
And she will face Ochichi - the Olympic 5000m silver medallist - and Hungary's Kalovics again in the at the UK's top cross-country race in Holyrood Park.
"I enjoyed my comeback although it was terribly cold," said Pavey, who raced for the first time since illness ruined her World Championship ambitions last August.
