Pavey has struggled with illness and injury this year |
Britain's Jo Pavey will face two of the world's leading distance runners when she makes her comeback this weekend. The 32-year-old, who returns after four months out with injury and illness, takes on Susan Chepkemei and Isabella Ochichi in a 10km road race in Italy.
Pavey is preparing to represent England over 5,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in March.
She has not ruled herself out of taking part in the IAAF World Cross-Country Championships in Japan in April.
The experienced Kenyan pair will be favourites at the head of a strong field in Bolzano.
Chepkemei is contesting her first race since finishing runner-up for the second successive year in last month's New York City marathon.
But current performances indicate Ochichi, Olympic 5,000m silver medallist, will have the upper hand.
