British long jumper Jade Johnson has been ruled out of the World Championships with a back injury. The 24-year-old, winner of Commonwealth and European silver medals in 2002, will sit out the entire summer after suffering a prolapsed disk.
Johnson's focus is now the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne next March.
Johnson said: "I have been told by the specialists that rest is the best remedy. I don't want to try and rush back to jumping too soon."
The Londoner reached the final at last year's Olympics in Athens.
