A record number of runners completed the 2005 Flora London Marathon as the event celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Organisers revealed a total of 35,105 made it to the finish line beating the previous best of 32,899 set in 2002.
A record of 36,017 hopefuls had registered for the event the day before the race although 460 failed to start.
But race director Dave Bedford said: "There was a 10% increase in registrations on any previous record and shows how keen people are to race."
